An appreciation

Maybe it was a childhood filled with MatchGame '75, or those classic performances on The X-Files, or maybe it was his unapologetic and openly gay (at a time when that was pretty controversial) persona,

but I always liked Charles Nelson Reilly and was sad to see that he died this weekend. Rest in peace.

And of course, it would be remiss of me to not include words of gratitude and appreciation, inadequate though they be, to all of those who have sacrificed by serving in our armed forces on this Memorial Day. We owe a sacred trust to these men and women. Let us honor their sacrifices without words designed to further a political agenda.

Awww, man...you bring bad news! I didn't know. He always made me laugh when I was kid and he was on game shows. Fond memories.

I used to absolutely love it when Charles Nelson Reilly was on game shows - he would always say something "shocking" though at the time I was usually too young and/or clueless to get the double entendre.

But oh, his eyes are so piercing in the picture you posted - I hope you won't get complaints ...

Hope you had a good holiday weekend.

Charles Nelson Reilly was gay? You know those glasses are back in style.
Jose Chung's From Outer Space was one of my favorite funny XF episodes. Lord Kinbatue, yeah!

I had no idea until I came here for my daily read. As a fellow Match Game devotee, I, too, am saddened.

What a blanking shame.

Can't wait to hear your random tag - I just did it as well but have 'broken the chain'. And sad news about CNR. Loved him. Maybe that was the start of my becoming a fag hag.

OK, this was a long time ago, and I remember that CNR had to be "partnered" with an actress named Elizabeth Adams (I think) on Tattle Tales, since it was for married couples. At that time, I just thought he was wickedly funny, kind of like Paul Lynde.

Of course, as I grew older, I began to wonder what ever happened with Elizabeth Adams... I think this is why I thought it was ok to fall for gay men, who weren't out.

See you at TNNA?

I really like watching the Match Game reruns. I always liked him. He also did the voice of The Dirty Bubble on Spongebob. He'll be a miss. :(

RIP, Mr. Reilly.

Carol - you forgot Lidsville, the insane sid and Marty Krofft show about the land where everyone was some sort of hat, except for Butch Patrick (the main character) and Charles Nelson Reilly (the villain).

It was one of my favorite shows as a kid, though now I look at it and assume I just had too much sugar in my system.
