I'm ba-a-a-ack!

My vacation is over,
I'm a tired & tan girl,
But couldn't resist this ad,
The "poem" made me hurl.

If your Lab isn't black,
Please: stay mellow,
It comes in a version
Where the Lab is yellow.

Oh, but, galumpka, that's exactly how my Ivy (yellow lab) felt about me, the goober.

She was a slave to love.

  2. Oh, groan! I'm glad to hear you're back and well, even if you did have to sic this poem on me far too early on a Saturday morning :0)

  3. Maybe I'm just a cynic, but I think the look in the dog's eyes says "Chill the f--k out, you sentimental freak."

  4. Nah, the look just says, "I'm hungry; where's the food?" Trust me on this one; I've seen it before.

  5. Maybe the look says, "Hey asshole, send the $29.99 to the SPCA instead of buying this useless plate."

  6. Yuck. I call it the Rainbow Bridge syndrome. I hate sappy sentimental crap like this, probably because it's an occupational hazard to be exposed to so much of it.

  7. That said, my favorite pet quote is from George Eliot: "Animals are such agreeable friends; they ask no questions, they pass no judgments."

Succinct, gets the point across, and isn't dripping in saccharine sentiment like a verbal version of a Mary Engelbreit print.

When my cat died a month ago, I threatened grevious bodily harm to anyone who sent me that stupid-ass Rainbow Bridge poem.

Fortunately, none of my friends needed to be told. :)
