Please visit this link for a preview of The Book....
Oh my God, I think I just peed my pants.
P.S. That's one of my designs on the cover... knit by frequent commenter and traveling companion extraordinaire Mindy....
P.P.S. Rumor has it the new Interweave is hitting subscriber mailboxes, so holler if you get yours. There are two, count 'em, 2 articles by the Curmudgeon in it.
CONGRATS!!!!!! WHOO HOO!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so beyond cool! Now go change your pants.
ReplyDeleteOh fantastic. Congrats to you! I can't wait to see the book - I've been dying for more knits in finer gauges. Woo hoo!
ReplyDeleteHurrah!!!! Looks just fabulous! Can't wait to see it!!!
ReplyDeleteHooray, and congratulations! I can't wait to read your dedication of your part of the book to me ...
ReplyDelete(That cover sweater looks mighty purty!)
Congrats! Maybe this is the beginning of an anti Wenlan Chia backlash? I think her super-chunky yarns/pattern designs are kind of silly looking. If the cover is any indication, this book is definitely more my style.
ReplyDeleteHot damn! Now, are you going to go to Amazon and give yourself 5 stars?
ReplyDeleteGeez, Selma, I was hoping I could count on you guys for that...
ReplyDeletealthough I haven't seen it listed on Amazon yet. (Yes, I have been checking.)
Congratulations!! Do we really have to wait until June?
ReplyDeleteGot my IK yesterday in VA.
YAY!!!!!! June is such a long way off.... Congratulations!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see more preview designs. You three have really filled a niche in knitting pattern books.
ReplyDeleteJune!?! Oh man!
ReplyDeleteAllison
Skinny yarn is one of my favourite things. I can't wait.
ReplyDeleteAnd, congratulations!
Congratulations to Carol, Laura and Lisa! I can't wait either.
ReplyDeleteI received my Interweave winter issue yesterday, and read both articles by Marilyn first. Loved the issue, but someone needs to proofread better - the word "conscious" was spelled as "concious" at least three times.
Hurray! Something to hoard Black Bunny yarns for, and maybe finally I can use my handspun up - I tend to spin thread. I can't wait for June!
ReplyDeleteJUNE?!?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait that long, dammit...
this is a must-buy for me. as a big girl who knits, I want the smaller yarns to make me look my best.
congrats, successful girl! I am pleased to know a famous person like you!
(can I hound you for an autograph yet?)
Too Cool! Go Carol.
ReplyDeleteGot my Interweave-did yesterday, but haven't read it yet. I'm off on a weeklong trip, so I'll take it along and read it in the bathtub. Ahhhh.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine the high you must have for this. It couldn't have happened to a more deserving knittah.
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
ReplyDeleteAre you going to review your own book? (ducks)
No, seriously, this is awesome. I'll keep an eye out for the book. :)
Congrats!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for a book. Can't wait to see it.
Whoo-hoo. It's actually a book I want to buy too! I love skinny yarn.
ReplyDeleteHey -- I got my IK yesterday, and I'm right down the road. Yours should be there any minute.
ReplyDeleteOh no! We are supposed to wait till June? The book sounds awesome. Congratulations.
ReplyDeletePutain de superbe!
ReplyDeleteBe sure to make your self-reviews all humble yet super flowery!
Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteMy master plan is:
ReplyDelete1. Pay ten or twenty of my best friends to write obsequiously flattering reviews on Amazon.com;
2. Obtain a false identity/email addy and post rave reviews on all knitting-related message boards.
3. Urge all blog readers to send emails to Interweave Press telling them how great I and the book are and urging them to offer me additional book contracts;
4. Bribe prestigious bloggers, plus Joe and Franklin, to frequently mention the book and drum up additional sales.
Any other shameless ideas will be gratefully received.
Oh yeah,
ReplyDelete5. Bridget said she would wear a sandwich board with the book cover on it and spend every weekend this summer walking around Center City.
Congratulations! I like skinny yarn designs - can't wait to see the real thing!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I got my new IK 2 days ago (I'm in CA). I know one person who saw the preview on line and said she didn't like a single thing in it (knitable thing, not article) - but I liked quite a few of them. And yep, the Curmudgeon's articles are there - I haven't had the time to do anything more than skim them. But that's what the weekend's for, right?
Mazel tov! What a fab book idea--looking forward to seeing it!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! The book looks gorgeous! And thanks to your post, I've been reminded to do more kegels ...
ReplyDeleteI want my copy NOW! I'm so excited for you, babe. It looks wonderful! I'll be sure to do the Amazon review, I promise. I wish the cover pic was bigger so I could see your design better. I'm hungering for a Carol-only book. How's about it?
ReplyDeleteGack--I have not yet seen the IK issue, of course. I don't have a sub to IK so I suppose I have to wait until they send me my writer's copy.
I did not use the word "conscious" in either article, at least not in the original manuscripts. There was very minor editing done on the interview and if anyone edited the Ravelings, I never saw the edited copy. In any case, I'm not known for my lousy spelling. I was once a copy editor, prior to being a managing editor. There's no excuse for IK to have let that misspelling slip. NONE.
You are such a superstar. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteWoohooo!!! :-D
ReplyDeleteWell done Carol. I'm really pleased for you.
ReplyDeleteOooooh.
ReplyDeleteDo Want.
(And, congratulations.)
(I really love designs made with finer yarns and I'm happy to see they're getting a little press after the spate of knit-it-in-a-weekend stuff - which might work on some women but makes me look like the wide side of a barn)
Now that's a book concept I can get behind. Congratulations! I can't wait for it to come out!
ReplyDeleteJust as so many have said, I love knitting with finer yarns. Better fit, and way more useful garments...thick lopi just doesn't cut it in the mall or the office.
ReplyDeleteI will be sure to plug away on the book on my site. Aside from the beauty of the cover design, I am starting to stock finer yarns, fingering weight etc. so your book can help sell my yarn. hehehe.
I will be watching Amazon, and put in raves etc.
Congrats!!!!
Barb B.
PS I get the internet back just in time for the great news!
Congratulations!! So exciting, and a cover girl to boot...
ReplyDeleteA) How did I not know this was coming, and
ReplyDeleteB) Where have you been all my (knitting) life? There are so few great fine-gauge patterns out there. This plus the new (and full of smallish-gauge sweaters) IK, and I'm set for potentially years!
Congrats!
Shut UP! That is so cool Carol! I can't wait til it comes out.
ReplyDeleteGot my IK Winter 2007, read both articles by Marilyn. Awesome.
Where in tarnation did you get a blue ballerina costume? I know several mothers that would have killed for that baby.
Congratulations. This is so exciting, a whole book dedicated to fine knits finally.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate all your reviews.
Congratulations on your book!
ReplyDeleteSorry about your pants!
Wow! Congrats! :)
ReplyDeleteFor Marilyn: I didn't mean that "conscious" was misspelled in your articles.
ReplyDeleteI did, however, notice it spelled "concious" in at least three other photo captions.
Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThe cover photo is gorgeous!
