One of my co-authors, Laura, and I will be at Maryland Sheep and Wool on Saturday. I will be carrying a Knitters for Obama tote bag with red trim on it, and if my husband hasn't hidden it away with my "F*CK OFF I'M KNITTING" giant coffee mug, I will be wearing my "I Learned To Knit In Prison" T-shirt. (The genteel Tom feels that both of these items are too trashy for words. I am a trial to the dear man.)
I am thinking about stuffing a bunch of BBF yarn in my bag for anyone who wants to grab a skein on a cash-only, $20 a pop basis-- anybody up for that?
I will also be carrying with me coupons good for free shipping in May and June on the BBF website. So if you see me and ask "Where's Charcoal?" I will give you one.
In the unlikely event that anybody snags a copy of Knit So Fine before Saturday, I will happily sign it, and I bet Laura would, too. Lisa Myers will, I'm pretty sure, be on one of the Rosie's buses so if you're really lucky, you could get an author signature trifecta! A veritable hat trick of the book-writing knitterati!
Did I tell you my "F*ck Off" mug broke? So sad, it was the perfect size for afternoon mochas. I'm pretty sure it was a goat related casualty.
ReplyDeleteYay for MD! Yay for your book! Can't wait to see you!
I'm so excited for S&W. I'd love to try to find you in the fray... say, I'm going to Haverford College next year; got any good local yarn stores and/or stitch knit groups to recommend?
ReplyDeleteI grew up reading SciFi, and believing it was all real. (I was saving my money to buy my Mom one of those "hired girls" from A Door into Summer") So, I am sitting here wondering if it is possible to just put a temporary pleat into North America, thus making Maryland and New York within reasonable driving distance, say 500 miles or so. Instead of the 2285 miles it really is. Sigh. Wish I could be there and do a deal on BBF. It would sort of have the same feel as buying a Rolex out behind the bar.
ReplyDeleteBarb B.
I wish I can go to play with fiber and meet you in person. I finally had a chance to read the newspaper article and put a face to your name. And you look so cool and relax in the picture. Have fun at MD S&W.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sad I'm going to miss it and you!! Come see me in Kennett - we need a book signing party!!
ReplyDeleteOh! Hunt Carol to frisk in her BBF goodie bag! Sounds fun!
ReplyDeleteI'll be there.... with my I'm 1 in 1000 Tshirt on. Will look for you! No M&M's though... :( They'll melt!
ReplyDeleteHope to see u there!
bj
I'll be there; I can't wait. I haven't been there, for one reason or another, for four years. My husband can deal with two simultaneous baseball games and baseball picture day all by himself, bwahahaha!
ReplyDeleteElinor, I went to Haverford, a million years ago. Enjoy! It was a wonderful place.
The warm weather has me personally longing for more finely knit sweaters. Then again, I started a DK weight sweater in December, so maybe I'm doomed to forever knit skinny sweaters.
ReplyDeleteI'm positively convinced that if I wish hard enough, I can levitate myself to the MS&W fest. Really.
Yay! I will be on the lookout for you. I'll be wearing my Ivy League Vest. =)
ReplyDeleteHave a great time, Carol. You are tempting me to go, but inertia is winning out.
ReplyDeleteYou may inform Tom that he is not being genteel, but discriminating against the many fine Felon-Americans who learned to knit in prison. He should be less judgmental and more supportive of this misunderstood minority. He should start a telethon.
ReplyDeleteUm... you're on your own with the mug. I love it, but I can't come up with a Tom-worthy excuse for it.
Hey, I know you're gone, but wanted to tell someone that Michelle Obama is going to be here in just a couple of hours--right outside of my door almost--on the UNC Asheville campus. Gladys Knight (who lives here) will be here too. ROCK THE HOUSE! Can't wait. They've been setting up all day and it's very exciting.
ReplyDeleteOMG! What about the Pips?
ReplyDeleteI would kill to see the Pips. One of my favorite songs in the whole world is "Midnight Train to Georgia" because the Pips are so hilarious. I love when they sing "I know you will"....
Have an AMAZING time at the rally.
