Briefly surfacing

to thank everyone who's commented or emailed with nice thoughts. Plowing through the deadlines, trying to deal with the stress, and at least right now I've got some pretty stuff to show you. First, new Apollo sock yarn, which has gold metallic sparkles:

Still some in stock at the BBF shop.

Second, this is Thistle, a sweater I designed for the new Koigu Magazine, which will be coming out in about two weeks.

I am hoping to have a Go-Knit-In-Your-Hat sneak preview of Koigu Magazine sometime before it goes on sale April 15th. Lots of wonderful stuff inside!

Experiencing technical difficulties

Not really. Just a whole bunch of deadlines and some personal-life stress. We'll make it over the bumps but please be patient: blog posts will be scarce for the rest of this month.

Unfortunately, I will be postponing my trip to WEBS that was planned for this weekend. Believe me when I say that I am really upset to miss the event, and to miss Kathy & Karen and the WEBS gang, but Tom promised that we can reschedule and he'll bring the kids and make it a family outing.

Meanwhile, if you're so inclined, send some good mojo or prayers or warm thoughts to our favorite goatherder, a.k.a. Goat Boy, who's got some health issues.

Knitters, unite

We interrupt this procrastination and avoidance of industrious working to meet deadlines to call your attention to an extremely worthy cause. Please go here to read about the raffle of the original Great American Afghan by XRX (publishers of Knitter's Magazine), in order to help a beloved, longtime employee with ovarian cancer get experimental treatment.

Actual afghan being given away (adorable tots not included)

I know that I am known for my irreverent, often snarky sense of humor, but underneath the crusty exterior I am touched and honored by the kind hearts of knitters. As a community, we come together so many times to help each other. Please consider buying a ticket for this worthy cause -- and since this raffle is sponsored by the CEO of Knitter's Magazine, you can do so with confidence that this is on the up-and-up. Sending warm wishes to Sue and the XRX family.

Yowza

Did I spell "yowza" right? I have a bunch of stuff I've been meaning to blog about, and I owe you some book reviews (of the knitting variety) and book reports (of the non-knitting variety) but right now I've got deadlines to the left of me, fiber clubs to the right of me, and the joy of parents everywhere: 2 days off for school conferences.

Allow me to assuage my guilt at not blogging more recently by directing you to the Spring Cleaning Sale at BBF. Just wander around the front page and look for the sale signs. (Oddly, there are often two "front pages" on my website: if you scroll way down to the bottom, on the right you'll see a link for page 2 of the "home" page. All the sale items will be listed on the home page(s) for your convenience.)
