When Interweave said they were sending an advance copy, I figured it would be not-quite-finished, like page proofs stapled together or something. But it is a real, finished copy, fresh from the warehouse or wherever they store books that are about to be released.
I'm so excited I don't know what to do.
So let's plan some road trips.
My loyal blog-readers, who have thrust me to the forefront of the dog-eat-dog world of yarn: Are there any of you out there who own yarn shops or work at yarn shops or are pals with yarn shop owners or belong to a knitting guild that would like to host a book-signing and/or a workshop or maybe even a BBF "tupperware" party/book signing (i.e. I bring a bunch of Black Bunny yarn and you buy it, and I sign your books)?
I'm willing to travel anywhere I can get via car within a few hours. [Edited to say: I live outside Philadelphia.] If you buy me a train ticket, I'll happily come farther. I'm pondering what kind of workshops I might do and am open to suggestion on that too (except I won't teach you how to dye yarn like I do -- a gal's gotta keep some trade secrets).
Email me at goknitinyourhat &^%%A*T&% att DAHT net (you know what to do) -- or use the contact button somewhere over on the right -- and we'll talk.
WooHoo!!!! You hurricane rock!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, my friend. I'm so happy for you! Can't wait to get my hands on a copy.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations, friend! I can't wait to get my own!
ReplyDeleteN has a fine Vanna future ahead of him, should he choose to accept it.
ReplyDeleteAlas, I'm in Denver. It's not anywhere near Philly (about 1700 miles, I'd guess), but if there's any buzz about you being in the western part of the country... I am chummy with my LYS owner.
Ooooh, shiny!
ReplyDelete(no point asking you here, I am wrong side of the pond ;) )
I'm really looking forward to the book. I'll touch base with the new owner of the Ewe & I in Narberth and see if she'd be interested in hosting an event.
ReplyDeleteWow! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteIK is real good about release dates. Happy for you your book is "real"!! Too bad No. Calif. is a bit far to drive :) Terry

Congratulations!!! I don't suppose you'd take a train to Florida? ;-)
ReplyDeleteHow exciting and most excellent. While I wanted it before, after the leg warmers in Interweave, I am totally stoked for the book....
ReplyDeleteCongratulations--hope you end up in Pennington NJ at the rocking Wooly Lamb...
Hurray!!! Richmond's not too far, right? You could bring Liz along too!
ReplyDeleteCongrats - and be sure to bring along N - he is adorable
ReplyDeleteLook! A real, live book! You get on with your bad ol' self, girl! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThis is so exciting! I've looked at this book advertised in one of my magazines, and it looks great. I can't wait to own it. Congrats! You have a lot to be proud of!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm going to talk about promoting your book. I would first ask how far do you want to go. Find out all the yarn shops in the area. Send them a fun note, or find a graphic designer to do up some cards/postcards to mail out to prospective yarn stores. Follow up with a phone and promote it as a call from the designer herself! See if they want to have a book signing at their shop. If you hold a class and do a book signing have a yarn on sale that goes well with the book. Promote it on ravelry, and send press notices to local papers. (this is after you have firmed the date with the yarn store) If going far away, ask if yarn stores are willing to chip in for a book signing. Also contact fairs. (wish this was coming out at Maryland Sheep and Wool.) but there is Rhinebeck, Stitches East, and check out TNNA. What about county fairs especially where there is a strong sheep presence. There is a lot of work with this kind of venture but it could really be fun.
