For me, going to the boardwalk at Wildwood is the seventh circle of hell. Even though I usually enjoy doing kid stuff, the combination of heat; icky overpriced food; annoying overpriced carnival games; and vertigo-inducing rides is enough to make me crazy. So I entertained myself by taking the campiest photos I could. Fortunately there was lots to pick from.
Lemonade from lemons, indeed.

I feel the same way about theme parks, although I love roller coasters. Fortunately, my daughters all know self-defense and can take care of themselves at the state fair!
Cool beans, Barack Obama is going to be here on Saturday! I saw him announce his candidacy in Feb here, at least I won't have to weare extra clothes this time!

Mmm, I want me some Polish water ice . . .
(Three guesses as to the ending of my last name ;)
Isn't Polish water, like, vodka or something?
well i feel the same way. the last time we went to the carnival i got vertigo just from the crowds and heat. yuck. that being said, your photos are lovely! i should like the carnival more considering how much i like those images.
love the bright colors in those photos. Lemonade indeed.
Maybe I could handle all of that in the evening when it cools off, but I dunno...you're a brave woman. (great collage)
I have always liked merry-go-rounds, esp. since some of them were made right here in philly!
how is polish water ice different from, say, rita's or via veneto?
I would imagine that Polish water ice sellers would, unlike Rita's, realize that "Gelati" doesn't mean soft "ice cream" and water ice.
Also, only the real deal Polish water ice makers tend to have the kielbasi flavor.
also sauerkraut and mushroom
what, no pierogi flavored water ice? or chruschiki?
(I am NOT polish, BTW)
LOL :-)
