This just in...

Vanna White, TV's favorite letter-turner and avid crocheter, introduced her new yarn yesterday in California. Described as a "premium quality basic yarn," Vanna's Choice will be marketed by Lion Brand Yarn Company. No further details available at press time.

To say I'm dubious about the current trend of celebrity branded yarns would be an understatement.

Never mind that if Vanna can't get me to watch WOF, she certainly won't get me to knit/crochet with her yarn.

I'd rather buy a vowel.

Say what y'all want, but as a fellow South Carolinian, I gotta give props to my homegirl. There are lots of worse things to come out of my native state (Strom Thurmond, the Civil War), so I, for one, am gonna cut her a break. And I'm going to hold judgement at least until I get to touch the yarn.

As an aside, just after I graduated from high school, my family went to Myrtle Beach for a weekend. The morning after we got there, we went down to the hotel's restaurant for breakfast, and Vanna was there having breakfast with two guys in business suits. She was wearing a gold sequined evening gown at 8AM. I found out later that she was there to be grand marshal for some parade or other, but I never got her autograph or anything because my mom wouldn't let us.

I would love to see her project selection!

She crochets and makes a lot of afghans. She has several afghan books for crochet out.

The logistics of a sequined evening gown at 8 am boggle my tiny mind.

What scares me is the concept of Vanna-selected colors.

Hey, do you think she figured out how to add bugle beads to yarn?

I know people view this as a joke in the knitting world, but Vanna is actually quite an accomplished crocheter. I actually own 3 of her books on crocheted afghans and they are my favorite ones that I always turn to first when I want to make an afghan. Some of her books focus on Lion Brand yarns so it only makes sense that is who she would team up with to make her own yarn. I was skeptical at first too, but once I bought her first afghan book, I immediately ordered the rest.

Wow. Seriously, how does the woman find the time to do all the things she is involved in? I can't even do the things I *want* to be involved in, poorly, half the time!

I hope she doesn't try to crochet while wearing that sequined gown at 8 am ...

i heard a rumor that the world's fastest crocheter, lily chin, ghost-wrote vanna's books...has anyone else heard that?

I blogged about the Nuns on The Run myself. I still imagining them running in disguise, maybe Afros and kimonos or something similar.

Gonna check out your Etsy shop tom, I am looking for a special sock yarn for my third pair of socks. I will know it when I see it. The stitch pattern in the sock looks like Effiel Towers and it is the Six Sock KAL.
